What's in a name?

Coming up with a name for a new-born baby must be quite a hard task. It's hard to come up with a nice name also keeping in mind the ridiculous nick-names that will inevitably follow. Heck.. often times a name can provide quite some ammunition on the play-ground and cause some serious emotional damage. But I guess, Malaysia has taken all of that into consideration and after consulting with various religious bodies has taken a decision to outlaw "unsuitable" names. Sigh!

No animals, insects, colors or numbers. All right, so let's say I accept those restrictions, what I can't understand, and what is exceedingly frustrating, is the restriction on naming ones child after Japanese cars! Come on.. Which child wouldn't want to be called a Lexus or a Civic.

Woti (Sexual Intercourse) is another banned name in Malaysia. I can think of some quite interesting names in India that would certainly raise eyebrows elsewhere. :)
